National League - Tamworth FC

The Lambs head to Essex for a match against Southend United on Saturday at 3pm at Roots Hall Stadium, as part of our upcoming Vanarama National League game. Andy Peaks’ team aims to extend their unbeaten streak to five games, following a scoreless draw with Yeovil Town on Tuesday evening.

Yeovil dominated possession for most of the match, but neither team managed to create significant scoring opportunities. Yeovil was reduced to 10 players midway through the second half after Morgan Williams committed a harsh tackle on Rico Browne. However, Tamworth couldn't capitalize on the numerical advantage, resulting in a shared point.

The draw kept us in 12th place in the standings, with 21 points from 15 games, missing the chance to move up to 8th, just below the playoff spots and ahead of Yeovil. Saturday's rivals, Southend United, are currently in 15th place with 18 points, following a 0-0 draw against Aldershot on Wednesday night. Under the management of former club captain Kevin Maher, the Shrimpers have secured only four wins in their first 15 matches this season. Maher, an ex-midfielder, made over 400 appearances for the Blues, leading them to consecutive promotions to the Championship.

Gus Scott-Morriss stands out as Southend’s top scorer this season, with nine goals from 13 appearances as a right back. The 27-year-old is a vital player for the Blues, as the next two leading scorers have only netted two goals each.
