Goalkeeper Joins Dale On Loan

Rochdale AFC announce the acquisition of goalkeeper Sam Waller on an initial one-month loan from Burnley. Waller, 22, joined the Clarets academy at age 12 and signed his first professional contract in September 2022. The goalkeeper had previous loan experiences at Lancaster City and Hyde United last season.
The club also confirms that versatile player Matt Penney has joined on a non-contract basis.
Penney comes to us following a two-year period at Ipswich Town. The 26-year-old developed his youth career at Sheffield Wednesday and had loan spells, including time with the German team St. Pauli, before joining the Tractor Boys in 2021. Waller will wear number 13 during his stay at the Crown Oil Arena, while Penney will take number 27.
